Rosario, Argentina — August 27, 2025

It was a historic and thrilling day for Team Canada at the Pan American Youth Championships in Rosario. The Canadian U19 Girls’ Team captured gold, while the U15 Girls’ Team earned a well fought silver, marking one of the most successful days for Canada at this prestigious event.

U19 Girls: Champions at Last

After years of near misses, the Canadian U19 Girls reached the top of the podium. In a tense final against Puerto Rico, the team fought with determination and resilience, ultimately taking the match 3–2.

For Jessie Xu, the victory carried special meaning:

“First, I just want to thank everyone. I want to thank my coach, my teammates, Team Canada, for always rooting for us. I’ve been in the finals three times, always finishing second. This time, we made it, and I’m so happy we proved Canada deserved this first win. Qualifying for the World Youth Championships has been my final goal, and we achieved it together. We played with no regrets.”

The deciding match came down to Emily Liu, who faced the pressure of closing out the final. She rose to the occasion with composure:

“It was really stressful, but I think I handled it well because my teammates and Team Canada were cheering for me. That made me feel less stressed. I just gave it all that I had.”

U15 Girls: Silver with Spirit

The younger Canadian squad also impressed, storming through the draw to reach the finals. In the end, the United States proved too strong, but Canada proudly secured silver, showing the depth of talent and promise for the future.

A Day to Remember

With one gold and one silver, August 27th will be remembered as a landmark day for Canadian youth Table Tennis. Beyond medals, it was a celebration of teamwork, resilience, and the power of believing in each other.

Congratulations to our athletes and coaches for making Canada proud on the international stage!
