The Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) has launched an inspiring campaign titled “Become a Coach.” This initiative invites individuals to explore the joys and impacts of stepping into a coaching role. Whether you’re looking to give back to the community, stay connected to your sport, or foster personal growth, coaching offers a fulfilling path that extends well beyond the game. It’s an opportunity to lead and inspire while enhancing your own well-being and developing lifelong connections.

In a compelling video accompanying the campaign, speakers emphasize that effective coaching requires patience, continuous learning, and the ability to wear multiple hats—acting as a mentor, nutritionist, and teacher. They share personal experiences illustrating how coaches can significantly influence young people’s lives, particularly in helping them overcome challenges such as bullying. The discussion highlights the broader role of coaching beyond just technical skills, especially in grassroots development.

The speakers also express their commitment to ensuring that sports experiences are positive and safe, particularly through the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) in Canada. They stress the importance of communication skills, accessibility in coaching, and the universal language of sport, noting that there is a place in coaching for everyone, regardless of background or language barriers.

It’s great to see our own Table Tennis Club coaches, Dan Calderaro and Zhaowei Raymond Zhang, featured in this video, sharing their insights on the importance of the NCCP and the impact of coaching.
