The TTCAN Board of Directors met electronically (ZOOM) on Thursday 9 February 2023. Here are some points of interest from the meeting:
- Chandra Madhosingh’s legacy will be honoured by TTCAN by naming a special event in his name.
- The Universal Code of Conduct for the Prevention of Maltreatment in Sport (UCCMS) version-6 was adopted effective immediately.
- TTCAN will become a signatory to the services of the Office of the Sport Integrity Commissioner (OSIC) before 31 March 2023.
- The nomination procedure for the Canadian Table Tennis Team to be selected for the 2023 Pan American Games (Santiago, Chile) was approved.
- The 2023 calendars of events for the National Team, Canadian Championships, Meetings and Coaching Education were approved.
- Of note, the 2023 AGM will be held on 9-10 September 2023 hopefully “in person” pending available funds.
- The dates of the 2023 Canadian Senior and Junior Championships were confirmed.
- The Athlete Assistance Program (Carding) issue with Sport Canada was resolved and the correct number of “Cards” was restored for 2022-23 and 2023-24.
- Najam Chishti (TTCAN Vice president) will be a Torch Bearer for the Canada Winter Games.
