TTCAN BOARD MEETING – 12 December 2024
The TTCAN Board of Directors met electronically (ZOOM) on Thursday 12 December 2024. Here are some points of interest from the meeting:
- The Board realized the importance of recognizing Centres of Excellence based on the statistics obtained showing the number of National Team athletes training in the various clubs.
- Canada will take part in the FISU World University Games in July 2025. The identification of eligible athletes has started.
- The dates of the Canadian Championships have changed due to a conflict in dates in Richmond/Vancouver. The new dates are 18-20 July for Seniors, and 20-23 July for Juniors.
- It was noted that the players attending the FISU World University Championships will not be able to attend the Canadian Championships due to a conflict in dates. The Board will exempt those at the World University Championships from attendance at the Canadian Championships.
- There will be a selection tournament at the beginning of February 2025 to serve as an adjustment to the National Team list.
- The ParaTT Canadian Championships will be held in Mississauga in September 2025.
- The new ParaTT Committee and Coaching Committee were approved.
- An update was provided regarding the activities of the Gender Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee, with particular emphasis on the coaching mentorship program for women coaches.
- The Board will propose to the Members Council the addition of the Chair of the GEDI Committee and the ParaTT athlete representative to be voting members of the Board. The effective date is not determined yet.
- The Athletes Commission Chair, Ivy Liao, provided a brief update. The AC will be meeting soon to review and update the Terms of Reference and address any new issues.
