Another bronze medal at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru for Team Canada.

With a win against Mexico, the Women’s Team made it to the Semi Final at this years multi sport event. Puerto Rico was too strong at the end, even winning the final and therefore gold in the Women’s Team event. Bronze won for Canada. Congratulations to Ivy Liao, Mo Zhang and Alicia Côté.

Mo Zhang – “I lost against Silva in the singles event and we knew that she would play two single matches in the team event. Therefore she had more pressure than me. We have a good chance to get into the final, so I am happy with Bronze, but I hope for more against Puerto Rico tomorrow.”

Alicia Côté – “I am very happy on how I played in the Doubles against Mexico. This morning was not so good, so I wanted to do much better in the quarter finals. Our goal was to get a medal, so I am very happy, but our goal is now to focus and try to reach the final.”

Ivy Liao – “Going into my first single match I felt very comfortable as I was more experienced than my opponent. It started well with winning the first set. That build my confidence and I was able to win. I am happy that I was able to help the team to win a medal.”
