The first ITTF MIXED TEAM World Cup will be held in Chengdu, China, 4-10 December 2023.

The Canadian Mixed Team is composed of:

  • Mo Zhang- Eugene Wang
  • Ivy Liao- Edward Ly
  • Jessie Xu- Siméon Martin

This is a new and unique event in which both men and women play on the same team. The team can have a minimum of 3 men and 3 women and a maximum of 4 men and 4 women. The team match is played in 5 matches in the following order:

  1. Mixed Doubles
  2. Women’s Singles
  3. Men’s Singles
  4. Women’s Doubles or Men’s Doubles
  5. Men’s Doubles or Women’s Doubles

The choice of the 4th match (MD or WD) is decided by the lower ranked team in the match.

  • The ITTF announced that all matches will count for Ranking (singles, doubles and XD).
  • All matches within the team-match must be played with 3 “games”, so the result may be 3-0 or 2-1.
  • The team that wins 8 “games” first wins the team-match. This means that the team-match could be won during the 3rd matches (3-0, 3-0 and 2-1, or 3-0)
  • All 3 men and 3 women must be included in the team-match.
  • Each player is allowed to play a maximum of 2 matches within the Team-Match (singles and doubles, or only doubles)
  • Players who play the XD match cannot play the singles.

Eugene Wang is the captain of the team (playing coach), and he will decide the order and placement of the players.
