Canada into the quarter finals in Men and Women – 2022 Commonwealth Games

Both the Canadian Men and Women teams lost one match intheir group to Australia and Wales respectively, and qualified for the quarter-finals round.

The Women’s team defeated Uganda 3-0 and Vanuato 3-0, but lost to Wales 2-3, with Mo Zhang winning her two singles matches.

On the Men’s side, Canada defeated Mauritius 3-0 and Malaysia 3-1, but lost a heart-breaker to Australia, the No.1 seed in the group, 2-3 after leading 2-1 in the match. Unexpectedly and very surprisingly, Eugene Wang (No. 48 in the World) lost both his singles matches against Australia.

Both Canadian teams will now have to face one of the top 4 teams in the quatre finals. The chance to reach the medal round is now more difficult but still very possible.
