Canada was represented with 2 Umpires and one Referee at the recent Pan American Cup.

Here are the observations of Jeffrey Wong who had the honour to participate as Referee:

“The Pan American Cup was held at the American Bank Center, Corpus Christi, Texas. For three days (19-21 January 2024), with thirty two players, 16 men and 16 women from twelve countries, who participated in knockout matches.

Coaches and players participated in the live draw held on 18 January and broadcast live on YouTube.

The competition showcased all the matches on one centre court table. Each match was streamed live. Weather was cooler than normal. Players adapted and performed at their best with emotion. There were expected results, upsets and injury.

Officials from four countries officiated the matches professionally. Each match was officiated by neutral umpires (different country than the players in the match). Umpires performed very well under the cooler than normal environment, especially in a heated match.

There were players with disappointing results, and some with performances exceeding expectations. Overall, the competition ended successfully.”

TTCAN thanks its officials for their usual excellent performance.
