The Canadian Para Table tennis Championships to be held in Mississauga, ON, on March 21-22, 2020, at “My Table Tennis Club” will mark the end of an era and the start of a new one.

TTCAN will be celebrating the 2020 Canadian ParaTT Championships in its current format and mostly with experienced veteran players. Although the number of participants is small, they all have big hearts and the level is high. However, it is time to focus on a new development plan to reach out and recruit as many new players as possible with the goal of hopefully doubling the entry at next year’s Championships.

TTCAN will seek input from all concerned for the development of a new plan with two objectives in mind. First, increase the number of participants at all levels, and especially attract new and young players. Second, to rebuild our national team and give the necessary training and competition opportunities to our best ParaTT athletes so that they are ready to compete internationally and hopefully qualify for the next Olympic Games in 2024.

I am very optimistic that with a good plan, provincial and territorial associations involvement, and full support from TTCAN’s Board of Directors, we can build a successful program for ParaTT in Canada.
