Cindy Zhu (11 years old) of Canada finished 2nd at the ITTF-Americas Hopes Challenge for U12 players in Santo Domingo, D.R., 17-18 August 2024. This Top-2 result qualifies Cindy to the World Hopes Challenge later in the year.
The Hopes Challenge had 22 boys and 18 girls from 13 countries in the Americas (Canada, USA, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Mexico, Honduras, Costa Rica, Brazil, Peru, Ecuador and Colombia).
In the boys Hopes Challenge (U12), Canada’s Cheong Lam He (12 years old) placed 9th amongst the 22 boys present. The Challenge tournament was preceded by a 5-day training camp attended by both Canadian players and the coaches, Y.J. Liu and Raymond Zhang.
