Right after the Canadian Championships wrapped up, ten coaches from five provinces came together for the Competition Development course, led by a coach facilitator from Quebec and a coach evaluator from the Northwest Territories.

Each morning, coaches took part in theory sessions to deepen their understanding of advanced coaching concepts. In the afternoons, they put their learning into practice by working directly with athletes at the National Girls Training Camp.

This course was a true example of collaboration between the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Committee and the Coach Development Committee. It also strengthened our mentorship program by giving mentee coaches the opportunity to lead the training camp, work together on the schedule, and share responsibilities throughout the sessions.

A few more hours of virtual training remain before all participants officially receive their Competition Development Trained status. This marks another important milestone for our mentorship program and for preparing coaches to lead at the 2027 Canada Winter Games.
