Mississauga, ON — September 2025

As part of the 2025 Canadian Para Table Tennis Championships in Mississauga, a special event was held celebrating active aging and inclusion: the Dementia-Friendly Table Tennis Day. Hosted at My Table Tennis Club, seniors living with dementia gathered to engage in friendly matches, joyful movement, and meaningful connection through sport.

The green backdrop of the venue was filled with laughter, encouragement, and rhythmic rallies. Players, some wearing masks for added safety, rallied with enthusiasm and grace. Volunteers and partners supported the event with scoring, guidance, and warm conversation, helping to make it a safe and welcoming space for all.

This event was more than just sport, it was a reminder of the power of movement, routine, and play for people living with cognitive decline. Family members, caregivers, and spectators were inspired by the athletes’ focus, smiles, and the spirit of community.

Held in collaboration with Ontario Table Tennis, Table Tennis Canada, and My Table Tennis Club, this initiative reflects a growing movement across the country to use table tennis as a tool for healthy aging and dementia support.

Stay tuned as we continue to explore ways sport can include, empower, and uplift at all stages of life.
