Canada had a great start in the Men’s Team competition at the World Team Championships being held in Busan, Korea, 16-25 February 2024.

On the first day of competition Canada’s men defeated Malaysia 3-2, with each member of the Canadian team contributing to the win. After being 0-2 down, with losses for both Eugene Wang and Edward Ly; Siméon Martin turned the match around by beating Chee Feng LEONG 3-2 and give a new momentum to the Canadian Team. Edward Ly followed with a 3-1 win over Javen CHOONG, then Eugene Wang sealed the deal with a win in the deciding match 3-1 over Shen Wong QI. Final result: Canada 3-2 over Malaysia.

In the women’s Competition, Canada lost a heartbreaker 1-3 against Serbia. Ivy Liao lost the opening match 2-3 and 12-14 in the 5th and deciding game. The same for Mo Zhang in the 4thmatch of the encounter, she also lost 2-3 and 13-15 in the deciding game !! Only 2 points for Canada would have reversed this loss into a 3-1 win.  This is sport. Every point counts.
