What an incredible experience we had at the Richmond Olympic Oval during the Girls National Training Camp!
Athletes from coast to coast to coast gathered at the legacy venue of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games to train, connect, and grow, not just in their skills on the table, but in confidence, community, and leadership off the table.
At the heart of this experience was the Women Coach Mentorship Program. Our dedicated coaches didn’t just participate, they led. From planning and delivering six dynamic training sessions, to chaperoning and supporting the athletes throughout the camp, their presence was felt every step of the way. They joined in the fun, encouraged the girls through tough drills, and shared their wisdom through moments of mentorship and laughter.
This was more than a training camp. It was a space where smiles, growth, and shared learning were woven into each session. Working with a group of 19 athletes and 6 coaches, everyone walked away with valuable lessons, fresh perspectives, and memories that will last far beyond the final rally.
In addition to their coaching duties, the mentors took a step forward in their professional development by completing the Table Tennis specific modules of the Competition Development coaching course. The commitment to continuous learning and growth was truly inspiring.
We extend a huge thank you to the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee for making this opportunity possible. Karine, your leadership and passion continue to shape this program into something truly transformative. To the Table Tennis Canada staff, thank you for your support behind the scenes, from logistics to equipment, your work makes all of this possible.
And most importantly, to the coaches, thank you for showing up with open hearts and curious minds, for listening, for sharing, and for choosing to grow alongside your peers and athletes. You embody what this program is all about: empowering each other and creating a stronger, more inclusive coaching community.
Together, we are making a difference in the lives of these young athletes, one rally, one conversation, one act of mentorship at a time.
