All Canadian played on the first day of the 2021 World Table tennis Championships in Houston.

The mixed doubles pair of Jeremy Hazin/Joyce Xu lost 3-0 to Sweden’s Moregard/Kalleberg.

Our mixed doubles Olympians, Eugene Wang and Mo Zhang had a tough draw in the first round facing Yukiya Uda and Saki Shibata of Japan. The Canadians lost 3-2 and 10-12 in the final and deciding game.

On the positive side, Jeremy Hazin, ranked No. 156 in the World, and the only Canadian qualified for the men’s singles, defeated 28 year old Marcello Aguirre of Paraguay 4-1 in the first round. Aguirre is currently ranked No. 59 in the world.

Jeremy will play against 29 year old Patrick Franziska of Germany in the round of 64. Franziska is ranked No. 14 in the World.
