For the first time in her career, Canada’s top woman table tennis athlete Mo Zhang (BC) has broken the Top 20 barrier.

Zhang, a member of the CITIUS Sports Club whose athletes call the Richmond Oval their home, trains for much of the year at a High Performance Training Centre outside of Copenhagen in Denmark. From there she has easy access to her professional league team in France and a number of World Tour events in Europe.

Zhang came to international attention for the first time in 2006 at the World Junior Championships where she finished 5th behind four Chinese athletes.

In 2018, she is close to the same position: of the 18 players ranked ahead of Zhang, 6 are from China, 4 from Japan, 2 from Korea, 1 each from Taipei, Singapore, Hong Kong, Austria, Netherlands and Romania.

With some interesting competitions still on the calendar for 2018, a year end top 15 World ranking is still a goal to aim for.
