In an effort to launch a new development program for ParaTT in Canada, a new ParaTT Committee is formed. Nominations were solicited from the member provincial/territorial associations resulting in a good representation from across the country.
On 6 August 2020, the TTCAN Board of Directors confirmed the new ParaTT Committee as follows:
Steven Dunn (NS) – Chair
Keven Lachaine (QC)
Luba Sadovska (BC)
Steve Dunn is a long time Para athlete in several sports including now in Para Table Tennis. His experience as an athlete in several sports will be a great asset to the ParaTT committee and the ParaTT program in Canada.
Keven Lachaine is a recently accredited International Umpire and has good experience as an official. He is currently the Chair of TTCAN’s Officials Committee.
Luba Sadovska is a full-time coach at her North Shore TT Club in BC. Her experience as a coach will be extremely valuable for the new ParaTT Committee.
As of 1 May 2020, Ian Kent, long time ParaTT athlete, was appointed as the ParaTT Program Manager. Ian submitted a development plan and will now be assisted by the new committee in the implementation of the plan.
We all look forward to the re-opening of activities across the country post-Covid lockdowns, and the start of a new momentum in the recreating and developing of ParaTT athletes. We also look forward to the formation of the new ParaTT national team and to follow them as they resume participation in international events.
The Canadian ParaTT Championships is scheduled to take place on 26-27 September 2020 in Mississauga at “My Table Tennis Club”.
TTCAN thanks John MacPherson, long-time ParaTT athlete and long-time ParaTT national team coach for his tireless work as a national coach and coordinator of the ParaTT program until his retirement on 31 March 2020.
