After many matches, and some upsets, eventually the top 2 seeds emerged as the finalists at the Olympic Qualification tournament held on 29-30 March 2024 in St. Léonard, QC.

Mo Zhang, as a professional international player, once again proved to be far above the Canadian level securing her place in the top 2, and then winning the tournament against Ivy Liao in the final.

Ivy confirmed her No.2 seeding by reaching the finals and winning all her matches but losing a game in some of her matches.

Nevertheless, she had a relatively easy path to the finals, where she lost to Mo Zhang.

The two Canadians will now head to Lima, Peru, in May, and try to get their ticket to Paris for the Olympic Games. The Pan American Olympic Qualification is the last chance to qualify for Paris. The Top 4 players will qualify for the Women’s Singles event at the Olympic Games.

We wish Mo and Ivy all the best in their preparations for the Pan Am Olympic Qualifications in Peru.

The two losing semi-finalists played-off for third place, which makes them the first alternate. Jessie Xu defeated Crystal Liu to finish 3rd and be the first alternate to Lima.
