Cindy Zhu was selected by the ITTF to participate in the GLOBAL YOUTH TRAINING CAMP being held in Chengdu, China, on December 4 to 13, 2025.
Raymond Zhang, the accompanying coach, was honoured by being selected by the ITTF to be one of the Head Coaches at the camp. In the photo we can see Raymond (left to right) with Petra Sörling (ITTF President), Bassent Osman (Egyptian Coach) and Mikael Anedrsson (ITTF Director).
Here is a brief update received from Raymond:
“The camp has brought together 30 female and 32 male players—half from the Chinese National Team and half from various countries around the world for each gender. All participants are required to wear Global Youth Li-Ning uniforms provided by the organizers.
Our Canadian player, Cindy Zhu, who is attending this prestigious camp, is doing very well. This has been a tremendous opportunity for her to develop new skills while training alongside Chinese players and receiving guidance from coaches of the Chinese National Team.
Cindy has been practicing 5.5 hours per day, and although the training is intense, she is thoroughly enjoying the experience. The camp is already proving valuable in helping her grow as a player and build confidence. I hope more Canadian players can be part of these types of camps in the future.
I am also grateful for the opportunity given by the ITTF to serve as one of the head coaches. It has been a privilege to work with the Chinese National Team coaches, and the experience has been incredibly enriching—one that I will cherish for the rest of my life.
Thank you for the support TTCAN has provided to both Cindy and me. We truly appreciate it.
Raymond (Zhaowei) Zhang”
