The Canadian team selected to take part in the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham from 29 July to 7 August had a preparatory training camp at the “True North TT Club” in Scarborough, Ontario, from 19 to 24 July 2022.

The players and the coaches were all in good spirit and practiced hard in preparation for the Games. On the last day of the camp, all team members had to take a Covid PCR test. Unfortunately, Gina Fu tested positive, so she had to miss the last practice on Sunday and had to be retested every day. Fortunately, on 26 July Gina tested negative and was able to travel on the 27th to arrive in Birmingham and join the team on the 28th, just on time for the opening ceremonies. The closing ceremonies will be on 8 August 2022.

Our Women’s team is seeded 4th and our Men’s team is seeded 6th.

“We hope for results exceeding our seeding so that we can compete in the medal rounds” said Adham Sharara, president of TTCAN. “We have a very balanced men’s team so we hope that they will be able to challenge the best. We have a very young women’s team, but with Mo Zhang’s leadership, we hope that our women will step on the podium” he added.
