Sanuka Herath reached the finals of the boys U13 at the WTT Youth Contender in Lignano, Italy, 29 October to 1November 2023. He lost in the final to the top-seededplayer from Taipei. From the group stage on, it was a verycompetitive tournament, and Sanuka had to overcome many hurdles until he reached the finals. He defeatedplayers from France, Italy, the Czech Republic, and Korea. He only lost to the eventual Champion from Taipei.

Sanuka reached the semifinals of the U13 at the WTT Youth Contender Szombathely, Hungary, 2-4 November 2023. This time he missed out on the chance to reach back-to-back finals (Lignano) as he lost to a player from Tunisia in the semi-finals. Although he played very well the day before to reach the semifinals, the next day was not as good for him in the U15 event.

Overall, this was an excellent self-funded match experience for Sanuka.
