Following their defeat in the semifinals of the Mixed Doubles and missing the direct qualification to the 2024 Paris Olympic Games by a thin thread, both Mo Zhang and Eugene Wang were able to put the XD behind them and fight for a medal in the singles.
Mo Zhang advanced today to the semi-final and medal round by defeating 5th seeded Amy WANG (USA) 4-0. This is a great win. Similarly, Eugene Wang also reached the semifinals. He defeated Nicola BURGOS of Chile 4-2 inform of Burgos’ home crowd.
Unfortunately, Edward Ly met the no.1 seed and World No.4, Hugo Calderone of Brazil in the round of 16. Edward played very well but lost 4-1.
Ivy Liao also played well but fell short to Roxy Gonzales of Venezuela 4-2 in the round of 32.
