Another successful Canadian Championships just concluded in Winnipeg.

The 2026 Canadian Championships, hosted by the Manitoba Table Tennis Association (MTTA), combining Senior and Junior events in succession were held in Winnipeg on 17-19 July and 19-23 July respectively.

With 7 events at the Seniors, and 16 events at the Juniors, the Championships were a busy place for the 7 days of competition.

On behalf of the TTCAN Board of Directors, I would like to thank the Manitoba Table Tennis Association for hosting the event and providing the participants with a memorable experience.

Sincere thanks and expressions of gratitude are due to the Darek Mikita in his dual role of President of the MTTA and Referee of the tournament. Congratulations to Darek and his team of major officials and umpires who served the event tirelessly.

Special thanks also to Carlos Cuadra, MTTA Executive Director, for his preparatory work as well as his work during the championships with his group of devoted volunteers.

The Board would also like to thank the following:

  • Marles Martin, TTCAN’s Technical Director, for all his work in planning the event’s schedule and implementing all technical aspects for the Championships.
  • Thorsten Gohl and his media team for providing coverage of the Championships on TTCAN’s social media platforms, the website, and for streaming the matches live on YouTube
  • Karine Dumontier, for her instantaneous translation into French of all the social media posts and website articles.
  • Denis Vigeant for leading the umpires’ team throughout the event.
  • All those who worked in the background to make the event a success.

We appreciate the efforts made by the players and their coaches, as well as parents, in the preparation stages before the competition, and the focus during the competition, as well as the reflections after the competition. We hope that all players and coaches achieved their objectives and especially learned from the experience whether the objectives were reached or not.

We now look forward to the next Canadian Championships to be held in Moncton, New Brunswick, on 9-15 July 2027.
