Table Tennis Canada (TTCAN) is very proud to be represented at the 2024 ITTF World Youth Championships by Sunny Zhang (girls U15) and Siméon Martin (Boys U19). The Championships are held in Helsingborg, Sweden, on 22-29 November 2024.
Both players qualified for the World Youth Championships based on their results at the 2024 Pan American Youth Championships, reaching the finals in their age category.
Siméon will be supported by coach Maxime Surprenant, while Sunny will be coached by Dejan Papic.
Sunny is seeded 30th out of 32 players, in the Girls U15 event, while Siméon is seeded last, 32ndout of 32 players, in the U19 Boys event. This means that the players are drawn against the tops 4 seeds in the first round of the knock-out draws.
Siméon will play against the 2nd seed, Andre BERTELSMEIER, of Germany. Sunny is also drawn against the 2nd seed, CHOI Seoyeon of Korea. These are very tough matches, and we wish our players all the best.
Both players will also play in doubles with partners from other countries. Siméon is paired with Nandan NARESH (USA) in the U19 Boys Doubles and with Brianna BURGOS of Puerto Rico in the U19 Mixed Doubles. Sunny is paired with LOY Ming Ying of Singapore in the U15 Girls Doubles and with Gorkem OCAL of Turkey in the U15 Mixed Doubles.
