It was a memorable day for Team Canada at the 2025 Pan American Youth Championships, as our young athletes proudly brought home medals and celebrated reaching new milestones.

U15 Girls Doubles – A Medal Moment

Sunny, Olivia, and Alexus captured bronze in the U15 Girls Doubles, each reflecting on what it meant to represent Canada on the podium.

  • Sunny shared her pride: “Getting a medal in U15 doubles is really meaningful and I’m very proud to represent Team Canada and be able to stand on the podium.”

  • Alexus added: “I’m really grateful for this opportunity. Playing against international opponents is a great learning experience, and I’m thankful for my teammates and everyone cheering me on.”

  • Olivia expressed: “It’s so amazing to represent Canada, meet new people, and win while bringing back a medal for our country.”

Their teammate Amber also spoke with pride about her doubles performance: “This time, I played a lot better than before. Winning a medal for Canada made me really proud.”

Canadians in the Main Draw

Several Canadian athletes advanced to the singles main draw, each with their own reflections:

  • Jason: “It means a lot to me. I performed my best in groups, and now I just hope to go as far as I can.”

  • Laurent: “I don’t think I need to do anything special. I just want to play my game with the right mindset and give it my all.”

  • Kenny: “Before matches, I like to take 10–15 minutes alone to do activation, meditation, and visualization, reminding myself of the tactics with my coach. It helps me be ready for every rally.”

Voices from the Bench – The Coaches’ Perspective

The success of Team Canada was also shared by the coaching staff:

  • Coach Matteo, at his first Pan Am event with Canada, described it as “an amazing experience with a lot of responsibility, especially being part of the team’s path to the podium.”

  • Coach André highlighted the strong team culture: “The girls worked very well together during the team event, and we’re proud of the silver medal. Both doubles pairs winning medals shows that our younger girls are developing really well.”

A Step Forward for Canadian Table Tennis

The results are a clear sign of growth and resilience from Canada’s youth athletes, who not only won medals but also gained valuable international experience. Their performances at Rosario reflect the strength of teamwork, preparation, and the spirit of representing Canada proudly on the international stage.
