The TTCAN Board of Directors met on Thursday 16 December 2021 at 7:30 pm (ET) by Zoom.

Here are some points of interest:

  • TTCAN has applied to Sport Canada for a special “Recovery Plan” to cover costs caused by the pandemic in 2021-22 and anticipated similar costs in 2022-23.
  • The professional staff structure is under review and changes would come into effect for the new financial year.
  • A new marketing and communication service will be provided to TTCAN by Julie Forget of FORTIUS Communications starting on 3 January 2022.
  • A new design for the TTCAN website will be provided by “THEY Integrated” of Belleville to be ready before the next AGM.
  • The Board recognized the international activities and good results of the ParaTT National Team.
  • A Coaching Development Plan submitted by Thorsten Gohl and Marles Martins on behalf of the Coaching Development Committee was approved in principle.
  • The Board reconfirmed the officials and alternates for the 2023 Canada Winter Games.
  • The date of 5-10 July 2022 for the Canadian Championships (Senior and Junior combined) to be held in the greater Toronto area was accepted by the Board and will be circulated to the Members Council for approval.
  • The National Team selection tournament to be held in Boucherville, QC, on 7-9 January 2022 will be used primarily for the selection of the Canadian Team to the 2022 World Team Championships (Chengdu, China) and the Commonwealth Games (Birmingham, UK).
  • The TTCAN Gender Equity and Equality Committee will hold a special training camp and educational opportunity for female players on 10-11 January 2022 in Montreal following the selection tournament.
  • TTCAN will be represented at the next ITTF AGM (May 2022) by two delegates.
  • Canadians who have been selected to ITTF Committees, Thorsten Gohl (Media Committee) and Keven Lachaîne (URC), will be supported by TTCAN to take part in the ITTF committee meetings next May.
  • The 2022-2023 tentative budget was approved by the Board with revisions planned for February and June 2022.
